The RISRC is proud to introduce the recipient of the 1st Annual Rhode Island Respiratory Therapist of the Year Award....

Jeanne Massey, RRT

It was an absolute honor to be able to present this award to Jeanne. Please see below the wonderful nomination submitted by her co-worker.

"Jeanne is a respiratory therapist at The Miriam Hospital. After working years in acute and critical care Jeanne had become TMH's PFT girl. When COVID began the PFT lab was shut down. The hospital had begun to fill up with COVID patients and the three therapists we had on nights were no longer enough to take care of all the incredibly sick patients. Just like she was made to, Jeanne put her senior therapist hat on and joined us on nights. She was here 4 to 5 overnights a week. I have been a therapist for 11 years but COVID was like nothing I had experienced. It was a breath of fresh air to look to my side and see a therapist with over 25 years of experience to help guide the way. Her confidence and knowledge was an incredible asset to overnights during the pandemic."

We'd like to give special recognition to the other nominees. We are very proud of the work you do. We hope you continue to inspire your co-workers and other RTs and we look forward to seeing you nominated again next year!
